Our client, a tech-driven quantitative asset management firm, utilizes a proprietary research platform and risk management process to develop and deploy systematic financial strategies across a variety of asset classes in global markets. To date, our client has 600 employees managing over $5 billion in assets. In addition, their “AlphaFactory” is considered the heart of their firm. With 4 million alphas to date, they have plans to grow to 100 million. You could be an integral part to this growth. 

Role: 

As the Lead Python Developer, the candidate will work closely with software engineers as well as infrastructure and other internal teams analyzing the existing system, collecting design requirements, driving key design decisions and producing design documents for the new system. As a senior member of the team, the candidate will also guide and work together with software engineers in the planning and implementation of the new system, setting software development standards, and ensuring the satisfactory delivery of the final product. 

Job Responsibilities (include, but not limited to the following): 

 

  • Design and implement software to facilitate data integration with trading and simulating systems 
  • Adopt new technologies to improve existing frameworks of data flow and monitoring 
  • Work with Trading/Research departments in designing and implementing new data sets on premises and in the cloud. 
  • Implement and maintain software that interface with external vendors to bring in new data sets 
  • Implement the rules and procedures that ensure integrity in data sets 
  • Provide second level support to production support team regarding market data issues 
  • Collect and analyze statistics on market data applications and devise approaches to improve the relevant processes 
  • Design and implement systems that track and manage data availability, access and usage 

 

Job Qualifications: 

 

 

  • The successful candidate is expected to have at least 5 years prior experience in designing and implementing large distributed computing systems, with demonstrated success in handling high volume data throughput, robust availability and scalability. 
  • Extensive knowledge about service based architectures, inter-process communication, network protocols, messaging middleware, Linux, load balancing, and data caching are considered critical to fulfill the requirements of this role. As this role interacts frequently with many geographically diverse teams, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. 
  • A candidate with expert proficiency in Python is strongly preferred.  
  • The candidate should also be well versed in object oriented methodology, agile development, version control systems, and software testing approaches.   
  • The right candidate will have experience producing brief, high quality software design documentation. 
  • The candidate is also expected to have deep understanding of leading distributed computing technologies, such as Apache Spark, Apache Mesos, and cloud computing and has successfully applied them to real world situations.
