Senior Linux Engineer for Top Quantitative Hedge Fund

Job Info:

Category: Operations/Support
Company Description: Global Asset Management Firm
Job Number: 9160

Job Description:

Our client, a proprietary quantitative investment manager, is looking for a highly-talented, well-rounded, hands-on Linux Engineer with outstanding technical and interpersonal skills to join the global systems engineering team.

Linux is truly the heart of our prod and dev environments, and the OS plays a critical role in everything we do. We’re looking for an extraordinary Linux Engineer to join our Systems group.  Our dream candidate would have not only impressive knowledge of RHEL (the overall distribution, kernel and subsystems, config management, virtualization, etc.), but also would be strong enough as a generalist (storage, networks, basic SDLC and project management) to be able to architect, build, and run a world-class platform. It’s not a systems programming job, but you’ll be most successful if you have some coding and automation ability beyond simple scripting.

Building a great environment means a tight feedback loop, so although others are primarily responsible for monitoring and first-line support, we think it’s important for Engineers to own the entire lifecycle. We’re small and nimble enough that you can get your hands dirty while still being transformative, and our org is relatively flat; you’d report directly to the Managing Director in charge of Systems.

  • Plan, build, and run a next-generation Linux platform to drive our research-driven quantitative trading business.
  • Tune and optimize our environment, propose and implement new tools and methods, and manage capacity planning.
  • Identify problems before they happen – handle incidents and escalations.
  • Mentor, coach, and collaborate with the team and the company.

Experience: 10+ years relevant professional experience

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply by submitting their resume as an MS word document including a cover letter with a summary of relevant qualifications, highlighting clearly any special or relevant experience.

Please Note: All inquiries will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Your resume will not be submitted to any client company without your prior knowledge and consent.
