Job Description:

Our client's Digital Products division is responsible for the entire experience and technology stack that enables  customers to access streaming media wherever they are-on whatever device is at hand. Exploring this nexus of product, technology, and entertainment requires a staff of highly-inventive and technically-flexible software professionals across a variety of disciplines: development, program management, test, and design. We especially prize people who are knowledgeable, curious, and engaged and who create inviting and premium digital entertainment experiences. We need expertise in platforms such as smart phones, tablets, game consoles, and web, as well as a thoughtful approach to features and user-centric design philosophies. Above all, we need people who can use their expertise to accomplish things that have never been done before-because that's what we're doing.

What you'll do:

As a senior individual contributor, you will design UI components and patterns, including typography, color, grid, and iconography. You will lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of designers, researchers, engineers, and PMs to evolve, curate, and expand our design system across streaming experiences. You'll work closely with front-end developers to create and manage a living style guide and library of design components.

In this role, you will both manage and maintain design documentation for styles and specifications for visual, structural, and behavioral components while taking a hands-on approach to implement these and collaborate with development.

You'll improve design system efficiency by assessing and identifying tools and processes with input from the design and engineering teams to encourage adoption. You will also seek user and business validation for your proposed solutions and pivot as necessary.

You will develop new patterns and translate them to create products that adhere to the best practices for globalization and accessibility.

You will contribute and shape the evolution and maintenance of our brand assets and style guidelines.

What we're looking for:

We need people who are extremely organized, meticulous, and able to nimbly manage multiple inputs and opposing opinions. They need to balance tactical implementation with big-picture strategic thinking.

We love people who have a deep understanding of software development processes and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty with experimentation and development.

We need designers who take into account business objectives, user needs, visual language principles, and industry best practices.

We value designers who have worked across complex design systems that span multiple products.

Above all, we value experienced, self-aware, and self-directed individuals, capable of being respectful team players across design, engineering, and program management.

A portfolio demonstrating process, user-centric design thinking, and execution, across multiple experience platforms (e.g. Mobile, Connected TV, Web/Desktop, etc.) is required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years' work experience in product development defining design systems and visual language.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Visual Communications, Human-Computer Interaction, or closely-related field.
  • Project and/or team management experience.
  • Deep understanding of visual language principles, framework, and patterns as they relate to software development and web.
  • Strong ability in core design, including composition, typography, and color theory.
  • Competency in existing and new visual system paradigms including expertise in visual and interaction patterns, best practices across platforms, and experience working within a responsive design framework.
  • Proficiency with modern UX design tools, including Sketch, Adobe CC, Keynote.
  • Experience with Framer and Abstract a plus.
  • Familiarity with Github and React.
